Blue Cotton Skin is very reminiscent of Lisa Germano’s Lullaby for Liquid Pig, which was one of the finest albums to be released last year. While Blue Cotton Skin may not show the emotional variation of Lullaby for Liquid Pig, it does evidence Jessica Peters’ talent and ability to write intelligent lyrics wrapped in simple electronic arrangements with dashes of guitar, piano and drums. There is also a sense of wistful nostalgia in her arrangements that nod towards the David Lynch-produced collaborations between Julee Cruise and composer Angelo Badalamenti.
